How and When To Apply
If you wish to join The Polesworth School Sixth Form @ Tomlinson Hall, then please read through all our course information and entry requirements very carefully. Attend our Sixth Form Open Evening, which this year is being held on Thursday 19th January from 6.30pm, or contact the Head or Assistant Head of Sixth Form to discuss your application. You should also discuss your course choices with your teachers, your parents/carers and careers staff at your school.
Applicants should then apply using our own application form, which is available on our website or can be posted to you. Once you have completed the form, then either post it to us, marked FAO Mrs. L. Munn, or email it to email@example.com
Please give as much information in your personal statement as you can about yourself, your strengths, interests and career aspirations to help us assess your suitability for your chosen courses. Your predicted grades at GCSE are also very important.
All students who apply to us are interviewed and interviews take place during the Spring Term. This gives us the chance to discuss your application with you, talk about your proposed programme of study and gives you the opportunity to ask questions. Some students may change their minds about their subject choices following and this is usually not a problem. Following your interview, you will usually be given the offer of a place for September on condition that you meet the course entry requirements and this will be confirmed to you in writing. We will then ask you to accept or decline your offer of a place in the Summer Term. If you decide to take up our offer of a place and achieve our entry requirements, then we formally register students for their courses on GCSE results day in August or on the first day of term in September.
Your Programme Of Study
Students are expected to take four A Level subjects to AS in Year 12 and most students will carry on with those subjects to full A2 in year 13. On the application form we ask you to select 5 subjects for study in order of preference. We do not have any set option blocks but devise them once applications are in based on the subjects students want to study. We aim to guarantee you your first three subjects and then give you either choice 4 or choice 5. The majority of students gain their first four subject choices.
Students should apply by Friday 6th March 2015 although early applications are advisable to ensure your subject choices. We continue to accept applications after this deadline; however, there may be some restrictions on subject choices.
Again, study this website carefully and if you have missed the
opportunity to attend January ’s Sixth Form
Open Evening, then visits can always be arranged if you contact the school.
After finalising your subject choices, complete the application form and either print it and post it or email it to firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are now accepting applications for entry September 2015. The final deadline for applications is Friday March 6th but early applications are advised.
